Introduction
On September 25th and 28th, 2023, something remarkable happened in our community. The Alief Neighborhood Center, Highvida Media, and Breaking Bread Saturdays joined hands with The Resilient Cities Network and the City of Houston to tackle a critical issue - how to cope with floods and extreme heat. In this blog post, we'll take you through our experience and the inspiring work being done to make Alief a more resilient Houston.
A Community United
At the heart of this initiative is the idea that real change starts at the community level. The workshop brought together neighbors, local organizations, and representatives to discuss, share ideas, and work towards a common goal - finding the best solution for Alief and investing $125,000 wisely.
Our Honorable Participation
We were deeply honored to be a part of this workshop. It provided a unique platform to connect with important community leaders and decision-makers. It was a chance to voice our concerns, share our insights, and collaborate with those who have the power to make a difference.
A Social, Active, and Informative Experience
The workshop was not your typical event. It was a vibrant, social gathering where ideas flowed freely. It was active, filled with engaging discussions and hands-on activities. Most importantly, it was incredibly informative, shedding light on the challenges our community faces and the solutions on the horizon.
